Sports Driving is a registered charity (Registered Scottish Charity No: SC038870) started in 2007 by a small group of enthusiastic volunteers who are keen for people with an impairment to enjoy the fun, excitement and health benefits of taking part in sports carriage driving and other equestrian activities.
We blend the exhilaration, excitement and adrenalin-rush of equestrian sport with the expertise of developing individual confidence, motivation and achievement

Our Story
Our present trustees have a wide range of skills and interests but all are eager to make sure as many as possible can take part in therapeutic equestrian sport. When the charity was originally set up in 2007 they agreed to use the operating name ‘Sports Driving Unlimited’ to put into words our belief that anyone with a physical or mental impairment can take part in sports carriage driving and benefit from therapeutic contact with ponies.
In May 2026 Sports Driving took over the Chariots Equestrian Centre in southern Scotland where we offer lessons and group activities in a number of equestrian disciplines including carriage driving, riding and equine therapy. Our professional coaches are all skilled equestrians who compete and win at national and regional competitions. They are vetted under the protection of vulnerable people regulations.
In addition to experienced staff and well-trained, happy horses, the Centre has an indoor arena, an outdoor menage, and miles of wonderful lanes and forest tracks for drive-outs. If you'd like to know more about what we do, then please do get in touch.
