We were really lucky to receive an Awards for All Grant towards the costs of safety equipment including hats, body protectors, safety belts and safety straps for those in wheelchairs. The grant also made a contribution towards the livery costs of two of our very special ponies, Bennie and Ruby who are both very much involved in our programmes.
We were allocated a grant of £5,000 funded by Comic Relief, through the Scottish Community Foundation. Comic Relief spends money raised by its fundraising campaigns, Red Nose Day and Sport Relief. The funds were used to run another new programme of sessions for youngsters with disabilities in south Scotland.
Grants and Programmes
This page will give you a taste of some of the grants we have received and the activities we have funded with the monies.
We received a grant from The People's Postcode Lottery which launched in 2005 to support local charities while giving players the opportunity to win fantastic weekly prizes. With the grant we ran a Small Groups Project for disabled and disadvantaged young people in collaboration with Quarriers, Lockerbie Learning Centre and Langlands School.
Grant Funding: Children in Need - with support from BBC CinN we have run a programme of sessions for young people in Cumbria and the Rhins & Machars area of southern Scotland. Click here to see a video of the Scotland group.
The Scottish Lloyds TSB Foundation have also given us funding towards the upkeep of our special loan ponies, without whom our programmes could not take place. The Frieda Scott Trust were so impressed with the work they funded last year that they have given us another donation to extend the programmes. Funding has also been received from the Bailey Thomas charity.
Lockerbie and Annan Rotary Clubs
We again extend our huge thanks to the clubs for their ongoing support. We have received funds from both clubs over the past months which have all enabled us to provide sessions for local young people with disabilities.
