Buy a Brick Appeal!
With the rapidly growing numbers of young people with special needs attending the Chariots of Fire Driving Centre for activity sessions, we desperately need a warm, dry area where carers/parents and youngsters awaiting their ‘go’ can huddle away from the elements. Somewhere they can thaw out frozen fingers, make a cuppa, have a small group theory session, attend to personal needs etc.
There’s an ideal space at the back of the big barn which is currently unused (except as a dumping spot!). It needs a roof and some transparent ‘walls’, a door and a ramp, a few kitchen units and some bits of small equipment. We’ve received a small grant from a private trust that will enable us to make a start on this work, but it needs topping up!
So we thought we’d launch our ‘Buy a Brick (or plank or door or cement or ….) Appeal! For more information contact Rosemary on rosemary@sportsdrivingunlimited.org.uk or 01576 610544

Each participant is taught to drive a pony including correct sitting position, rein
handling and voice commands to control the speed and direction. They also experience
the practical aspects of caring for a pony, including grooming, leading, harnessing,
feeding and carry out practical tasks at each session. The coaching is tailored
to each person’s own abilities so they can enjoy the widely acknowledged therapeutic
benefits that result from involvement with ponies and hopefully spark an ongoing
interest.
